Brisbane Walk - Flow
When we were designing our installation and the associated walk, we decided to place the piece of art amongst the figs that are located in the triangle at the intersection of Eagle Street, Creek Street and Elizabeth Street.
The giant figs are a wonderful feature in the Brisbane CBD and we thought that this area is quite appropriate for our installation as Wheat Creek (this is how Creek Street obtained its name) used to flow in the vicinity of this intersection.
Many locals walk past this location on the way to work and it would be an area that would also attract visiting Landscape Architects.
We began the project by looking at the hydrology of Brisbane. After doing some research, we really liked the idea of highlighting a lost treasure from the Brisbane CBD - Wheat Creek.
After designing our walk through the Brisbane CBD and highlighting some important areas along the way, we decided that our concept would be FLOW. The concept of flow pertains to the past (water through the creek), present (pedestrians and traffic along the old creek path) and future (flow of information). It was through this concept that we decided to build our installation in the way that we did.

What do you get out of it?
As the Australian Institute of Landscape Architect's (AILA) Forecast Festival is being held in the State Library of Queensland (SLQ), all of our prototypes have been installed in and around the SLQ.
Our installation is hard to miss if you enter the SLQ from the Grey Street direction (especially if you're travelling by bus or being dropped off by a vehicle using the drop off zone).
If you're getting to SLQ in a different manner of transport, please don't miss out on our installation. Have a look at the photos above and come on through to check it out and please give us some feedback.
Whilst installing our artwork it was brought to our attention that people will interpret it differently. It's one of those things that you don't really think about when you are so close to a project.
So, the question really is, what do you get out of it? How do you interpret our work?
We'd love to hear from as many people as possible. Please feel free to go to our contact page to send us an email or head to the facebook page www.facebook.com/brisbanewalkflow.
